Olivia Williams December 1, 1933 May 2, 2021
On Sunday, May 2, 2021, our beloved Olivia “Kitty” Williams passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Olivia was born into the family of the late Lou Kate and Alex Conner on December 1, 1933, in rural Louisiana. She was the fourth of five girls. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the New China Grove Missionary Baptist Church until she left her home town and move to St Louis in March of 1958. Sometime after arriving in St Louis, she met and married Lucellious “LC” Williams and they united with Leonard Baptist Church and she remained faithful until she faced health challenges. Her beloved LC preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Williams; two sisters Beatrice Brown and Mary E. Divins.
Olivia grew up around her mother’s sewing machine and watched with wonder and amazement as her mother made garments from fabric. She loved what she saw and imitated it by making doll clothes. From her love of sewing would come her means of making a living. She worked at various business establishments in the St Louis area before she and LC opened their own businesses, two dry cleaning establishments. She would go on to own an alteration shop. She was a lifelong learner! She took music lessons, bookkeeping, and business management at Forest Park College. Olivia loved fried fish, fried chicken, and fried shrimp with emphasis on the term fried.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Carol “Joyce” McNeil; three grandchildren, Eric
Donte’ Williams (Krystal), John H. “Trey” Gipson, III, and Ja’net Williams; six great grandchildren, a host of very special grandchildren; two beloved sisters, Geneva Reynolds and Lula M. Roberson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family,(some of whom she helped rear), and friends.
